Ketamine Treatment in Cape Town: A Guide to UkuKhanye Wellness

Searching for a new path to mental wellness? UkuKhanye Wellness offers expert, compassionate ketamine infusion therapy in Cape Town. Led by Dr. Bavi Vythilingum. Discover your brighter future today.

Who We Are

UkuKhanye Wellness is a specialist clinic located in Kenilworth, Cape Town. We are a dedicated team of mental health professionals—including psychiatrists, medical officers, and nursing staff—committed to providing evidence-based intravenous infusion treatment for mental illness.

Our practice is led by Dr. Bavi Vythilingum, a specialist psychiatrist with over 20 years of experience. Dr. Vythilingum has been closely involved in drafting national guidelines for infusion therapy, ensuring our clinic operates with a focus on safety, ethics, and clinical excellence.

Our Approach to Treatment

We understand that for many patients, conventional psychiatric treatments have not provided the necessary relief. Our goal is to offer a medically supervised alternative that can alleviate suffering and improve quality of life.

When searching for ketamine therapy in Cape Town, it is important to choose a facility that prioritizes medical safety. UkuKhanye Wellness strictly follows the South African Society of Psychiatrists (SASOP) position statements on ketamine. This means we only administer treatments that are clinically appropriate and tailored to the individual needs of the patient.

How the Process Works

We believe in being transparent about what the treatment involves.

  • Referrals: We accept referrals from other psychiatrists. If you do not currently have a psychiatrist, we can refer you for an assessment to determine if infusion therapy is the right clinical option for you.

  • The Protocol: Treatment for depression typically involves a course of 6 infusion sessions administered over a 2 to 3-week period. Each session lasts approximately 75 minutes, including recovery time.

  • Preparation: Before starting, patients attend a 30-minute educational session with our nursing sister to discuss the effects of the medication and how to navigate the experience effectively.

  • Maintenance: For patients who respond well to the initial course, single “top-up” sessions can be arranged at intervals of 2 to 4 weeks to maintain wellness.

Cost and Packages

To support our patients, we offer a structured Six-Session Treatment Package.

While individual sessions are billed separately, patients who commit to the full six-infusion protocol and settle upfront receive a discounted rate. We provide a full breakdown of costs, including initial consultations and follow-up counselling, upon enquiry.
